First, it's convenient to the part of town with businesses, so that could be super helpful. But what will draw us back is the hotel's amazing little restaurant, Gallo Blanco.
It doesn't hurt that the hotel looks kinda cute and laidback and has a pool... But, again, here's the real drawcard—the food.

Pork quesadilla with Oaxaca cheese & Jalepeno relish
We discovered Gallo Blanco by searching Chowhound for affordable, authentic Mexican close to the neighborhood we'd be in later in the day. (near the central corridor.) Then, someone we met in a nearby office recommended it to us, without knowing we already had it earmarked.
Apparently, it's a local favorite, supported by the fact we could barely find a table for lunch at 11:45 a.m. on a Tuesday.
Carne Asada taco, Halibut taco
And not just any Tuesday. It was a "Taco Happy Hour Tuesday", making these delicious little friends half price. Considering they were only a few bucks to begin with, this was a bona fide bargain.
The only thing more exciting than a delicious, cheap and local-approved lunch while in a strange city? Discovering a brand new place to stay for the next visit.
Rates begin at $129 a night.
