Airport hotels get a pretty bad rap. Sure, there are the greasy, grimy ones, but we like to think that for every one of those, there's a perfectly clean business-friendly one—or, even better, an airport hotel with the luxury of an airport view. All this week we'll be taking a look at a few of our favorite hotels for plane spotting.

Today: The Hilton and the Ibis at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Kicking off this week is a double-header at Paris' massive main airport. At the high end, there's the Hilton with its Concorde views—don't believe us, see here. For the budget-conscious, there's also the Ibis, with its view of everything else (see here) and direct connection to Terminals 1 & 2.

What can you expect to see from either? Well, naturally keep your eyes peeled for the Air France A380, but it's also a perfect spot to catch Africa and Middle East-bound airlines using Paris as a convenient European hub.

We should warn you that hotels are three-dimensional buildings, so you should always ask for a room facing the airport, highest floor possible. That way you don't end up facing the parking lot, or a wall, or on the second level with this view.

The details:
· The Ibis is linked to Terminals 1 & 2. The Hilton is not linked, but offers a complimentary shuttle.
· Average nightly room rate: 235 Euro ($300) at the Hilton; 84 Euro ($107) at the Ibis
· Airlines & airplanes spotted: The Hilton has the aforementioned view of the Air France Concorde on static display, plus departures. The Ibis has everything and a freeway.
