It just so happened that, after walking into our room for the first time, an Emirates A380 landed and, from that moment on, throughout a two-night stay, we found it exceedingly difficult to scrape our face off the window.
A word to the wise: the hotel is shaped like the letter D. Be sure to request a runway-facing room on the highest possible floor and, if you've got to the cash, upgrade to a Club Suite (from HKD $3,000/$386 per night) for a curved window that gives a far wider view, plus VIP perks. Then download the LiveATC app, put on HKG's tower channel and enjoy. Beware that WiFi is not free (unless you book online via their website, but our room was so near the airport building that we were able to tap into the free signal emitting from there. Score!
Sometimes, in our wildest thoughts, we consider returned to the Regal HK just as someone might want to hit up a favorite 5-star spa hotel. It's just so good that it's almost too indulgent.
The details:
· Attached to the airport via a walkway
· Average nightly room rate: HKD $1,445 ($180)
· Airlines & airplanes spotted: everything!
