ACE: The posts found on Ace's clean-cut, minimalist blog are often (though not always) directly related to the individual hotels, whether it's an upcoming artist exhibit, a new product being sold in the Ace's online swag store, or simply a taco stand opening near one of the hotels that they think is cool. All useful stuff for the average bicoastal hipster, y'know?
KIMPTON: By far the most utilitarian of the hotel blogs, Kimpton's "Life Is Suite" has a traditional layout, with heading at the top, a quick description of the blog and categories broken down along the side (Design Minded, Fun, Tech Tips). The hotel posts about twice a week, highlighting different attractions at the company's 50+ hotels like yoga, lobby design, and a series titled "Behind the Apron," which takes behind-the-scenes looks at various hotel chefs.
THOMPSON: Room 100 was given a makeover last year, which ended up driving the number of unique monthly visitors from 2,000 to 25,000, causing it to win the "Best Hotel Blog" award by HOTELS magazine. Coverage on the blog has included a story about Hunter S Thompson's The Rum Diary, a new photography exhibit at MoMA, and an interview with nightlife queen Amy Sacco.
MORGANS: Similar to Gansevoort's scrapbook layout, the Morgans Tumblr mixes art, snapshots from hotel events (this Mondrian LA party snap looks particularly fun) and generally inspiring photos. Things have changed since we first reviewed the blog back in 2010, but one thing that's stayed: "The List," which offers in-depth city guides for New York, Boston, London, LA, Miami and San Francisco through a partnership with Urban Daddy.
STANDARD: And last but not least, for anyone with an insatiable need to stay up-to-date on all the elite happenings at Standard's LA, Miami and New York properties, this blog is for you. The homepage is bold and colorful, and organizes the site's content into easily navigable categories like news, events, photo galleries, music, and fun little interviews with staffers. Hey, we remember you, Lindsay Atwood, from when we checked into the Standard Downtown LA in May!
