Robert Shepherf, IHG Chief Development Officer in Europe, told Financial:
"As well as signing the Hotel Indigo Barcelona-Plaza Catalunya and Hotel Indigo Birmingham Waterloo Street, this year we’ve also signed our first Hotel Indigo in Wales, the Hotel Indigo Cardiff; our third in Scotland, Hotel Indigo Edinburgh-Princes Street; our fourth in Germany, Hotel Indigo Dusseldorf Victoriaplatz; and our first Hotel Indigo property in Israel, a 92-room hotel, which will open in Tel Aviv next year."
Boy, that's a lot of ordinal numbers, but we get the point.
Indigo has been doing extremely well in Europe since it launched there in 2009, with the opening of Hotel Indigo Paddington. And frankly, we're not surprised. Marketing itself as IHG's answer to Starwood's W Hotels, Indigo offers exactly that type of efficient, quaint, modern, economic hotel that Europeans love.
Meanwhile, the 92-room Indigo Cardiff will be located in Dominion's House, on the well-frequented Queen Street.
Unfortunately, no word yet on when exactly any of these new properties are set to open, though we're guessing within the next year or two.
