LEED-certified buildings, "spa-inspired" bathrooms, 24-hour fitness centers, 100&% recycled carpet material....well, the list goes on. These are just a few things that guests will get to enjoy when the new Element Frankfurt Airport opens in 2014, a few miles outside the city's international airport (Europe's third busiest, in fact).
Similar to other Elements (see: New Jersey, Miami), the location was chosen for the number of major corporations (Lufthansa, Condor, DB Shenker) who've set up their global headquarters there.
Whether or not the "green" concept will catch on in Europe as quickly as it has in the States is another matter, but Starwood remains hopeful:
"In the years to come, we plan to expand Element throughout Europe with development partners, like [developer] Bari Gruppe, who are as committed as Starwood to innovation and sustainability in the hotel industry."
The new-build hotel will feature 133 studios and one-bedroom suites, plus large desks, open shelving and en-suite kitchens. That way, if the healthy food doesn't stick, you can always fry up some bratwurst and wash it down with a Pilsner. Don't worry, we won't tell.
