In the meantime, the hotel’s snazzy website has tons more information, so we’ll make do with that.

There’s talk of a total of 157 rooms now in the Norman Foster-designed building, including 16 suites. Rooms are predominantly white (with white leather (!) walls), as opposed to black marble corridors, drawing on “the ideas of yin and yang, as guests move from dark to light spaces”.

There are five different room types: Aura, Vibe, Mode, Energy Urban Terrace, and Energy River Terrace Rooms. The latter are smaller, but provide outdoor space with views of either Covent Garden and the City or the river Thames. These are also located on floors 8 and 9, which we previously saw referred to as “The Level”, but can’t seem to find much details on now.

Guests staying in one of the 16 suites will be receiving the ME+ experience, which include luxuries such as a dedicated host looking after you during your stay, and a complimentary 30-minute in-room spa treatment per 3-night stay. Top-of-the-line Suite ME gives you a living room inside the glass cupola on the corner of Aldwych and Strand, offering panoramic views of London.

ME by Mélia is clearly aiming to deliver more than just an overnight stay, with four concepts - Remember ME, Experience ME, Energize ME, and Dare ME – to “create an atmosphere that stimulates the senses and connects with each and every one's life rhythms, with every guest's AURA, creating the essence of the hotel itself”. That’s certainly a mouth full!

Radio rooftop will be open throughout the day until the early hours of the morning. On the last Thursday of the month, “Frequency” will showcase cocktails, finger foods, and live DJ music. STK restaurant has an American steakhouse, grill-style menu and is labeled as London’s latest female-friendly dining experience. Lobby lounge Marconi was named after Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of the radio, a nod to the original Marconi House being located on the site of the hotel.

Rates have come down slightly: an entry-level Aura room runs for just over £300 ($476)late September, excluding taxes. Energy River Terrace rooms start from £475 ($755), with a Chic Suite from £637 ($1,010).
