The outdoor terrace at the new Andaz Napa

A few days after the expected open date, which felt like an eternity but at last,Andaz Napa opened its doors yesterday in Napa’s burgeoning West End, effectively vaporizing the former Avia Napa. While we love Andazsms pretty much anywhere, having one in Napa is dreamy, not only because the brand is as locally focused as the town, but also because bringing Andaz's vibrant, stylish design to downtown Napa makes it a great option for those who find traditional wine country B&Bs a snore.

Last month, we mentioned a few of the changes to expect at this new Napa hotel, including an Andaz Lounge in lieu of a traditional front desk. Essentially replacing the lobby, the Lounge transforms the check-in process to a more social, casual experience where guests are greeted, checked in by iPad and offered a glass of vino while they sit or plot out their wine country adventures on the wall-length map of the Napa Valley.

An earthy, albeit colorful palette plays out with a modern design across the hotel, something Andaz Napa calls “agri chic.” You’ll get that vibe across the entire hotel in pops of rich, exotic colors and textures that intermingle with rustic, vineyard-style pieces (see the end tables and chairs in the guest room). Even the in-room dining options come in antique tool boxes with Mason jars glasses. True to the Andaz brand, guests at Andaz Napa get to enjoy complimentary WiFi, minibar snacks and non-alcoholic drinks from them there Mason jars.

Speaking of grub, the farm-to-fork Andaz Farmer’s Table and Mercantile Social bar both source ingredients from a local community garden and select Northern California ranches, orchards, mills and farms. Locally-made snacks—think cookies, candy and jerky (YES, JERKY!)— will also be yours for the taking. As for the drink menu at Mercantile Social, local finds still reign supreme with high-end Napa Valley boutique wines, local craft beers, and small batch spirits from the likes of Bay-area-based St. George Spirits.

Looking at that outdoor patio with its crackling fire, we’d like to be there right now, sipping a Napa Valley red, artisanal jerky in hand. At least until the next Andazsm happens, which should be any day now with the Andaz Savannah opening right around the corner.

We found rates as low as $269 for this month.
