InterContinental Hotels Introduces New Agraria Bathroom Line

September 11, 2012 at 5:12 PM | by | Comments (4)

There’s just something about those little (and sometimes big!) bottles of shampoo, shower gels and lotions that we adore and can take back home without feeling guilty. Lately, some hotels are getting even fancier with their offerings (no more boring Aveda!) by partnering with interesting boutique brands.

The latest to tickle our fancy is InterContinental Hotels' new Agraria line. It’s actually one of the oldest and largest American luxury home fragrance company, which makes us smile that the company appreciates a boutique classic. The products made their way into rooms this month and will be in all 169 properties by January 2013.

Lemon verbena, Agraria’s number one scent, has been chosen for the hotels. The brand, which was born in San Francisco in the ‘70s, uses natural ingredients, plus its packaging uses recycled paper and is 100% biodegradable.
Bonus: If you’re a InterContinental VIP guest, you’ll get a special “Sweet Dreams” Agraria evening turndown service with a gift of either homemade lemon verbena cookies to a take-home lemon verbena TasselAire, unique perfumed tassels that can be used as room fresheners.

Boooooo

Wall mount dispensers are the only way to go... a 200 room hotel probably disposes of 218,000 little plastic bottles per year, not to mention the boxes, wrap, and pallets they come in... and not to mention most still have chemicals in them that make it to landfills and seep into our drinking water.  Shame.

John is a killjoy

I recycle, turn off the lights, just leased a car with much better mileage than its predecessor, turn the water off when I brush my teeth, yada yada yada, but DO NOT take away my hotel free stuff.

John is WAY off

Dispensers tend to waste more product than the bottle products do; especially if they are motion sensors.  Since the majority of the chemicals are found in the actually liquids themselves, more chemicals are being flushed out to the ocean through the drains this way.  Also, most bottle products and all corresponding packagings are now made with a biodegradable additives and post comsumer waste that help the "green initiatives" that just about every country in the US has adopted as common practice.

Stay on topic folks !

This is NOT dispensers vs bottles again, we have that debate long ago, this is about IHG's new line Agraria. I wonder if this brand stay in regular rooms replace both Elemis and Floris, or it replaced Gilchrist & Soames London line in suites as well ?
