In fact, the Fashion Week menu comprises both food and drink—a few cocktails were invented to pay tribute to recently-deceased fashion world bigwigs, Cosmopolitan editor Helen Gurley-Brown and style icon Zelda Kaplan.
Meanwhile, it's the grub that really shone for us.
We ordered the Hermes Fall 2012* collection to start, followed by the Christopher Kane Spring/Summer 2009** collection as our entree, and though we eyed the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012*** collection as a dessert, we thought better of it and decided to go for a walk instead. That all sounds pretty delicious, right? Yeah, it was a tough call between the Christopher Kane and the Robert Rodriguez, but luckily our friend ordered the latter, so we ended up getting to taste both.
The prix fixe menu, which costs $38 per person will remain available at Strand American Bistro through September 30. At which point the fish in the aquarium will dye their fins back to normal and give the six-inch heels a rest. Fashion Week isn't meant to be forever.
Oh, right. You're probably wondering what those mouth-watering designer names actually stood for: the * appetizer was a rich butternut squash risotto with tangy bits of bacon scattered throughout; the ** entree was a trio of perfectly-seared sea scallops on top of tangy cauliflower florets in a tangy orange browned butter sauce. And that dessert we chickened out on? Chef's Chocolate Molten, which comes with creme Anglais and dulce de leche.
[Disclosure: We ate at Strand American Bistro as a guest of the hotel, but all opinions are entirely our own]
