In case you were hoping to celebrate this year's World Cat Day, we're sad to say that you've just missed it. Instead, enjoy our photos of...cats in hats! Also, cats in dresses! And last but not least, cats in leather jackets!

The cat fancy fest went down yesterday evening within Manhattan's Algonquin Hotel as the property allowed its most famous resident, Matilda, lobby cat, to have a few friends over to celebrate the reopening after a complete renovation.

While Matilda held court near the second level's new Barrymore Suite, a slew of other gussied up felines mugged for the cameras and guests who donated $25 to NY SAVE (Save Animals in Veterinary Emergency). There were even cats up for adoption through the Bideawee Organization.

Typically Matilda hosts a Cat Fashion Show every year on her birthday, but this event was a one-off, special night focused on welcoming her back to her lobby perch now that the construction is out and her divan back in. And though you'd think she'd be the star, it was actually a the 25-pound Savannah cat named "Elvis" who charmed the greatest number of cat ladies. Blame it on the guitar.
