DC's Dupont Circle Will Take Your Instagram Circle and Make It a Star

Hotels...they're finally getting it. Social media, we mean—they're getting social media, and the latest example of this is a major Instagram contest to award a mobile photographer with a new camera, a hotel stay, a display of their image and mentions in the press.

The contest, hosted by Washington DC's Dupont Circle Hotel asks for submissions that have a theme of a circle reflect "the spirit of Washington DC." Just contributing an image to the contest earns you a free cocktail at the hotel, so that's like $14 right there. Naturally there are more detailed rules; see them below.

The rules:
· Follow @Dupontcirclehotel on Instagram
· Instagram a photo incorporating a “circle” and reflecting the spirit of Washington, DC
· Tag @Dupontcirclehotel and hashtag #dupontcircles12 to your photo
· Get an Instadeal of a free specialty cocktail at Bar Dupont by proving your submission

The judges: The winning shot will be selected by a panel of experts including Pulitzer Prize Winning Washington Post photographer Ricky Carioti; Dan Westergren, Senior Photo Editor of National Geographic Traveler; and Maria Byrk, in-house Photographer and Graphic Designer for the Newseum.

The prize(s):

The winning photographer will receive a top-of-the-line DSLR Camera, and the winning photograph will be framed and displayed at The Dupont Circle Hotel, and featured prominently online on the hotel’s Facebook page and website. Additionally, there will be an announcement to the press of the winner with a potential feature in a local paper or magazine.

Two “People’s Choice” winners will be selected to receive a complimentary two-night stay and dinner for two at The Dupont Circle Hotel and Café Dupont. These winners will be determined based on the number of “likes” their submissions garner on Instagram so once you’ve submitted your shot, be sure to share it on Facebook and tweet it to the world to drum up support for your photographic masterpiece.
