Finalmente! The First W Hotel in Italy Will Open in May 2013

Not a photo of the W Milan (it's the W Chicago Lakeshore), though we don't doubt Milan will have its share of paparazzi snaps soon enough

It's crazy to think that in a city where the Armani Hotel, Maison Moschino and Hotel Bulgari fill their beds with the fashion-foward set year-round, that a W Hotel hasn't claimed a single cobblestone as its own.

Oh wait—we take that back! The W Milan has announced that it'll be opening in the Italian metropolis as soon as May 2013 and guess what? It'll not only be the first W in Milan, but the first W in the entire country of Italy. Che meraviglia!

Naturally with such a high-profile property, the official Starwood site is staying skint on photos and details for now, though it does reveal that the W Milan will be 78 rooms in the Brera district.

For all you who haven't yet made it to Milan to spy on The Last Supper, the Brera is the pulse of the city's artistic heartbeat as well as being hot for nightlife. Located a Via Brera 19, the W will be a quick walk to the Montenapoleone shopping area, the Parco Sempione, the other hotels noted above (it's kinda in the Bulgari's backyard).

Bonus: the W will be the nearest major hotel to the Brera Gallery of Art.

There's no room rates just yet, but stay tuned as we count our Eurocents in preparation.
