Aloft Asheville And Aloft SFO Both Get Ready For Takeoff

Ready or not, Aloft is slowly infiltrating every corner of the world—India, China, and the US are all in line for multiple openings this year. And it was announced last week that South Korea is even set to get its first Aloft by 2014.

But in the more immediate future, we're looking at two US openings this month: Aloft Asheville on Aug 23 and Aloft SFO on Aug 30. One will be a place to retreat from (or invite back to your hotel room) all the ukulele-strumming Blue Ridge Mountain hippies. The other will be a place to lament your delayed flight. Both will spoil you with free WiFi.

Mountain Xpress got to take a look inside the new Asheville property, which features a good-looking series of mountain panorama paintings hanging over each headboard (done by local artists, of course), a saltwater pool with a cabana bar and fire pit, and some pretty bright furniture (mustard yellow leather chair next to the bed, we're looking at you).

But, love it or hate it (and quite a few Facebook commenters certainly added added their two cents below the Mountain Xpress piece), the hotel will do exactly what an Aloft is supposed to do: offer a cheap, decent alternative for business and leisure travelers on the fly, as well as a little social action in the lobby. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ditto the new Aloft opening at SFO, which will mark Starwood's third airport hotel in the area.

Rates will start at $159/night in Asheville, and $269/night in San Francisco.
