Tom Colicchio Looking for Top Staff for His New Hamptons Inn

July 9, 2012 at 9:16 AM | by | Comments (0)

Fans of the Top Chef judge will be excited to know that after the wild success of Craft and 'wichcraft (among others, of course), Tom Colicchio has decided to open his first hotel on Long Island, New York.

It won't be some flashy chain, or have any kind of gimmicky concept—at least not for now. The hotel is in fact an old, quiet 22-room inn in Bridgehampton called Topping Rose House (love the name!), and at the adjoining restaurant, Colicchio plans to use produce grown on the property in the dishes. Giving farmer-wannabe Andre Balazs a run for his locally-sourced money...

Crains reports that the inn, which is Colicchio's first, could prove exciting enough to make the chef want to delve further into the hotel game. (And for our stomach's sake, we certainly hope so).

"In the meantime, he's hiring bellmen, housekeepers, valets and restaurant staff. Mr. Colicchio tapped veteran luxury hotelier Jeff Morgan, who has operated Caribbean resorts, to be the property's general manager."

Jeez, we thought being a hotel restaurant staffer was stressful enough. But having to work under a Top Chef judge? We think we might crumble under the pressure faster than a graham cracker over a pie tin.

Topping Rose House will open later this summer.

Are you excited to see the look of Tom Colicchio's new inn? Or just excited to eat there? Let us know in the comments below!
