A Non-Olympic Perspective on London? It's Possible at citizenM Bankside
July 30, 2012 at 11:35 AM
In case you hadn't noticed, the 2012 Olympic Games started in London last week. We're bracing ourselves for the travel gridlock, a tube even more packed with people than it is normally, and hoping for a little bit of magic in the air at the same time.
Hotels as far away as South Beach and Denver are celebrating with Olympics packages, but if you're in the mood for something else, the newly opened citizenM Bankside has a few ideas.
Starting from today, the hotel has a free, two-week long programme "citizenM Reports", where you can learn to report on "everything but sports", covering aspects of London ranging from food to fashion to street art.
Things start off tonight from 6 to 7 pm with photographer Carol Allen Storey as guest speaker, a UNICEF ambassador whose recent projects include Angels At The Edge of Darkness, about women and children dealing with AIDS in Africa. Homer Sykes will run a workshop on the changing faces of London next week Monday, with fashion photographer Mark Lebon concluding the series with his views on London Street Style on Thursday the 9th.
You can read more about the workshops and speakers by visiting the dedicated citizenM Reports website.
