We know where we'll be next Monday night—and it won't be at home spying on our old man neighbor. Instead, we'll be at Peninsula New York, watching a film about neighbors getting spied on.

Amelie, one of our all-time favorites, will be shown as part of a new outdoor French cinema series taking place at Salon De Ning's West Terrace.

Meaning, yes, a French-themed film screening at a Chinese-influenced bar in the middle of New York City. But hey—a view's a view! We happened to visit the hotel's sun terrace, two floor below, last fall, and have to admit, we liked what we saw.

The series is officially called "Ciné Sous Les Étoiles," and it will feature quirky French classics like Chocolat, A Very Long Engagement, and The Artist. And if that artsy French cinema vibe makes you thirsty for a drink, rest assured: Salon De Ning will be serving cocktails all throughout the screening—in particular, the Ning Sling, a mix of Absolut vodka, lychee juice and fresh mint leaves.

No reservations are needed for the screening (which will take place on the last Monday of each month, starting this Monday, July 30), but there is a one cocktail minimum. An additional snack menu will be on hand, offering movie-watching munchies like popcorn, caviar, nachos, hot dogs and ice cream.

The series is supposed to be a buzz-builder for Peninsula's next big hotel opening...in—you guessed it—Paris.
