The First ALT Hotel Outside of Québec Opens Its Doors in Toronto

ALT Hotels, the ALTernative brand from Groupe Germain Hospitalité, has recently opened up their first hotel outside of Québec at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

As we first mentioned in April, ALT Hotels are aiming for, maybe not world domination, but certainly Canadian domination, as they actively expand their ALT hotels across Canada. Current locations include Québec City, Montréal’s Quartier Dix30 and now Toronto. Plans to open ten ALT Hotels across Canada by the end of 2016 are underway, with three new properties already in development at Halifax’s Stanfield International Airport, in Montréal’s District Griffin and in Winnipeg’s Sports, Hospitality and Entertainment District (SHED).

A no-frills-but-still-oh-so-chic group of properties, ALT Hotels are pared down versions of Groupe Germain’s Le Germain boutique hotels, which are found in Québec City, Montréal, Calgary and two in Toronto. And while Le Germain hotels are the full-meal deal, ALT hotels have cut down on some the high-end perks of a hotel stay.

The eco-friendly ALT Hotel Toronto Pearson is a modern 153-room property conveniently located adjacent to the terminals at the end of the 24-hour LINK train. Guests can search the web using the free WiFi, work out in the hotel’s gym, grab a meal to-go at ALTcetera or play pool in the lounge.

If you’re looking for something different to do during your stay, why not create some art in the hotel's lobby? Before the hotel opened, ALT Hotels held a photo contest via Instagram so that a collective work of art could be designed specifically for the ALT Hotel Toronto Pearson. More than 80,000 images, inspired by a daily color theme, were submitted by participants from around the globe during a two-week period. The final installation, featuring thousands of Instagram pictures, includes LCD screens that display the contest photos as well as new photos submitted by hotel guests in real time. That’s where the free WiFi really comes in handy.
