Four bars and restaurants will be on hand, and the 17,000-square foot Regent Spa will have a range of authentic Chinese and Thai treatments.
The all-suite Regent Bali, located on a four-acre estate in Sanur on the island’s southeastern coast, will open in December 2012. The 95 suites will have front-and-center views of the Indian Ocean as well as handcrafted furniture. Some of the villas will have private pools as well as full kitchens, dining and living rooms, and come with either two or three bedrooms. There will be restaurants and bars which will serve Balinese and pan-Asian cuisine, and a beachfront grill to take advantage of the areas amazing seafood. The infinity pool is a place to camp out if you’re not overdosing on Balinese spa treatments.
November will bring Vietnam’s Banyan Tree Laguna Lăng Cô, the company’s first venture into the country. Built along the shores of Canh Duong and 1 1/2 miles of white-sand beach, this will be a luxurious retreat comprised of 32 one-bedroom lagoon villas and 17 one-bedroom beach villas. Highlights of the resort are the spa and an 18-hole championship golf course that weaves around ride paddies. Nearby are hills, mountains and several distinctive UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the ancient capital city of Hue on the shores of the Perfume River, Hoi An, and a plethora of temples and monuments.
Starwood's Luxury Collection Hotels will be opening four properties in Asia within the next six months. The first, Keraton at The Plaza, will be the brand’s first hotel in Jakarta. The others are The Royal Begonia in Sanya, China, Twelve at Hengshan in Shanghai, and Vana Belle in Koh Samui, Thailand.
Twelve at Hengshan is located in Shanghai’s French Quarter district, which is surrounded by restaurants, cafés, and restored art-deco buildings. There are 171 rooms, a heated indoor pool, a luxurious spa, and two restaurants housed in a modern terracotta building.
The Keraton at the Plaza, in the heart of Jakarta’s downtown business district, will be a modern 140-room hotel albeit with touches of Indonesian flare, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. For relaxation guests can head to the infinity, semi-outdoor lap pool or the spa. One of restaurants, the seventh-floor Bengawan Restaurant, offers great views of Jakarta and its hustle and bustle. The Keraton Lounge will specialize in High Tea, with an extensive collection of tea from English to Javanese. At night, the sipping turns serious during wine and cocktail time.
Vana Belle Resort & Spa in Koh Samui, opening in December 2012, will be Luxury Collection’s third property in Thailand. The 80-room tropical retreat is located on the Gulf of Thailand and surrounded by beaches and coconut trees.
