Oh boy, we hope the neighbors who are suffering from the Gansevoort Park's rowdy pool parties are stocking up on more ear plugs. That's because another party spot is coming to the block in mid-2013--SLS New York.

The NY Post reports that Sam Nazarian has announced that the Philippe Starck-designed SLS outpost for the Big Apple will open at 444 Park Avenue South, which is literally just a block away from the Gansevoort. The hotel will have 190 rooms, presumably with Ciel toiletries in the bathrooms.

While our source inside SLS says a José Andrés restaurant at the ground-level is not confirmed, we hope it happens as we can't imagine SLS without José. There will also be rooftop scene of some sort and we hear that the S bar brand might be revived. There might even be an outpost of Hyde at the hotel, too.

But that's not all Nazarian has planned for NYC. He's also expanding the LA's Umami burger chain with five Umamis set to open within the next 18 months. (Hint: put one in the SLS and make it a "secret" spot.) He's also hoping to spin off the Redbury Hollywood in SoHo or Tribeca or even open up a second or third SLS hotel down there.

All of this is such a positive turnaround for Nazarian and his SBE company which includes not just SLS hotels but Katsuya restaurants and a variety of nightclubs and other dining spots. With SLS South Beach open, SLS New York coming soon and SLS Las Vegas underway, his hotel ambitions are finally coming true.

However, there's one thing that will need to be sorted out soon. The sbePREFERRED FRIENDS loyalty program has reportedly reached its capacity and is no longer taking any new members. Which means if you are staying at an SLS or dining at a Katsuya, you can't sign up for the loyalty program. Current members also can no longer earn points for their activity at SBE properties. Instead, they will just receive a standard 10 percent off food and beverage bills. Booooooo.

Supposedly, there's a new loyalty program in the works and we hope it really rewards hotel guests who will be paying top dollar. With rates at SLS South Beach around $300 a night, we bet the SLS New York will be at least $100 higher.

Expanding Much?

I follow the sbe brand and was curious, what is going on with their Chicago plans? Didn't they purchase a Le Meridien there? Haven't heard any news of that from sbe.
