2. The Hotel Bel-Air: Going a little further down Sunset Boulevard will lead you to the BHH's sister hotel, Hotel Bel-Air, which serves a grilled cheese with Gruyere and caramelized onions in their Wolfgang Puck restaurant. We got to try the fancy sandwich last week and we're not sure we can have a grilled cheese withoutcaramelized onions from now on.
3. The Upper House, Hong Kong: Not only was this an incredibly tasty grilled cheese from the hotel's room service which quelled our brief spell of homesickness, we loved how it was served in stackable dumpling serveware, giving the dish some Asian flair.
4. W Downtown New York: Thanks to the recent gourmet comfort food trend, there's probably a restaurant somewhere in Manhattan that only makes grilled cheeses but we liked the W New York Downtown's version which is served up at the hotel's 5th Floor Living Room Lobby, Bar and Terrace. Best of all, this grilled cheese comes with amazing views of the construction at Ground Zero, specifically of the Freedom Tower.

5. Ace Hotel Portland: This funky grilled cheese sandwich was served with aged monterey jack, marinated Anaheim peppers, matchstick french fries and a side of both creme fraiche and sweet harissa. Not only was it a sandwich we wished went on forever, the total bill came to just $10, including a Coke.
