The luxury collection has unveiled a revamped kids educational and experiential program called Rose Buds (cute!) which uses the Montessori Method of teaching by integrating locale, culture, customs, nature and even history of the hotels into the activities.
For example, at the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, the Rose Buds program offers Pinata-making classes as well as a pottery class and a field trip to the La Esquina Mexican Toy Museum (Pinata-making is also offered at Rosewood's Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos.)
Down at Rosewood Tucker's Point in Bermuda, kids can participate in kite making, scavenger hunts, and plenty of arts and crafts such as making their own pink sand & shells picture frame. Back stateside at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Rose Buds offers a Budding Restauranteurs program where kids can meet with everyone in the hotel's Mansion restaurant from servers to chefs. They will even learn proper place settings, a skill parents will love for kids to take back home.
But if you're really looking to give your kids an adventure, the Jumby Bay Resort in Antigua offers the most activities of all the Rose Buds programs from a red-footed tortoise tour where kids can hold and feed the red-footed turtles that inhabit the surrounding area to the stingray city boating tour, a Hawksbill turtle talk, a Maiden island boating adventure and hair braiding.
Hmpf. While we adults will have no problem finding our own adventures to partake in, we can't help but be a little envious of the little Rose Buds.
There are Rose Buds programs in effect at all Rosewood Hotels and Resorts from New York City (at The Carlyle) to Vancouver (the Rosewood Hotel Georgia) and even Saudi Arabia with the Al Faisaliah Hotel. Most activities are complimentary for hotel guests (rates at the Rosewood hotels vary wildly of course) but there are some small charges for outings and tours, arts & crafts and food.
