A Cocktail for The Algonquin's Famous Lobby Kitty
Now that NYC's historic Algonquin Hotel has renovated and reopened, and the resident lobby cat Matilda has returned to her roost, it's time to toast. But not so fast! Matilda is a cat after all, so you can't always rely on her to be hanging out near reception, awaiting any and all loving pats. Often she'll be sleeping on a luggage cart, or hiding behind a desk, oras was the case a few days agozonkered out in a cloakroom.
If the beloved kitty is nowhere in sight, at least there's some liquid consolation: the eponymous cocktail "Matilda" is $18 at the hotel, in the lobby and the Blue Bar, and it's tasty.
To attempt to make it home, here's the ingredients: Belvedere Pomaranza, Cointreau, freshly squeezed lemon & orange juice and splash of Perrier Jouet.
