The Dutch interior designer, considered to be the Lady Gaga of the design world by the NY Times, has already worked his whimsical but edgy magic at the Mondrian South Beach (remember this chick?) and we already see some similarities, particularly with the goldfish spoon that's found above the bed. We're also quite concerned curious about the location of the sink and mirror RIGHT NEXT TO THE BED. Eeee.
Indeed rooms will be small, starting at about 250-sq.ft. but they will offer views of either a landscaped courtyard, the Prinsengracht Canal or the "imaginative observatory." Now that sounds interesting. All the Andaz standard amenities will also apply like free WiFi and complimentary mini-bar snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.
Downstairs, the hotel will have a restaurant in typical Andaz style meaing locally sourced, seasonal farm to table food. There will also be a bar and lounge space that will be integral to the "Welcome to Andaz" experience (this is where you will check-in paperlessly via a personal attendant) and where you can also sip on wine and cocktails and "distinctive Dutch beverages." Andaz Amsterdam will offer 24-hour room service, a signature spa with sauna, steam and treatment rooms and a fully equipped fitness centre. Rounding out the amenities are meeting spaces with natural light, an urban garden and a possible bee hive farm on the roof. Andaz honey perhaps?
There's no word on when reservations will open or how much they will be but we'll keep you posted as soon as we find out.
