Just yesterday we were talking about hotel bars. Well, the Tryp Times Square bar is one we've visited a few times, and always enjoy sitting down for a glass of wine and some tapas.

But the Tryp lobby is limited (this is New York after all), and the bar area can fill up quickly during the after-work scene. So it's lucky they have designated a separate—but equally fun—room for spillover, where customers can take their drinks and chill out away from the hubbub. It's called the Library and it happens to be one of our favorite spaces in the hotel.

While the main bar and restaurant area (what the hotel calls The Gastro Bar) are at the far end of the lobby, the Library is located behind and to the left of the Front Desk. Simply enter, make a right, bypass the elevators, and enter through the large wooden sliding doors.

Inside, the space is filled with cool little travel-themed knick knacks like clocks and globes and encyclopedias and vases. The beautiful mosaic tiled floor is continued from the main lobby, and, best of all, a marble fireplace is tucked away at one end. Wooden shutters on the lobby-facing wall mean you can hear all the action, but things still feel secluded.

Food and drinks are served here when tables are all full up in the lobby, though we'd just be happy to order a beer at the bar and bring it into the Library, where we would then set up our laptop to do a little work.

And since we've got Independence Day on the brain, know that a standard room here will go for just $179/night next month. And you can do all the library-dwelling you like.
