There's travel talk everywhere about how expensive it'll be to fly and drive this summer, so there has to be some savings somewhere, yes? The most obvious place will be in hotel rates, and so our gift to you this week was one hotel a day under $100 a night. Now, we're not saying every place is of Ritz quality, because then it would be...well, the bloody Ritz. But the places are nice enough for you to sleep at night.

Our Last Pick: Alta Lodge

Just because ski season is over doesn’t mean you should count Utah out, in fact, for those who are averse to cold, summertime is a nice time to visit. A mere 45 minutes from Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Mountain region is the affordable Alta Lodge.

It’s a modest 57-room lodge where you can lay your head after a day spent doing yoga, hiking on trails, biking, and picking wildflowers. There are no televisions in the room, but free WiFi keeps you connected. Oh, during the summer season, the Lodge's restaurant is closed, but the front desk will happily point you out to plenty of places to go.

Sun-Friday rates begin at $94 per night (valid May-October).For that price you’ll get a comfy bedroom plus Continental breakfast. Saturday rates go up to a hefty (we kid) $114 a night. If you’re staying on a Saturday night, we say go all out and get the Sunday Brunch package for $114 (standard room), which includes an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of lemon-drizzle muffins, eggs Benedict, cheese blintzes, and more.
