There's travel talk everywhere about how expensive it'll be to fly and drive this summer, so there has to be some savings somewhere, yes? The most obvious place will be in hotel rates, and so our gift to you this week will be one hotel a day that comes in under $100 a night. Now, we're not saying every place will be of Ritz quality, because then it would be...well, the bloody Ritz. But the places will be nice enough for you to sleep at night.

Our Pick: L'Auberge St-Louis

A quick stroll to most of the Old Quebec's major sites and wonderful cafes, it's almost easy to pass the tiny 27-room L'Auberge St-Louis. But, double back you must if you want a good deal in a city that will be teeming with visitors from now until late fall.

The rooms at the Auberge are unapologetically simple with a bed, chair, cable-TV, and a writing desk, which is all you really need. A bathroom you say? Well, you may get one. Or you might have to share, depending on how much you want to pay per night. A room with a double bed, but with shared bathroom begins at $69 per night. If you want your own WC, rates begin at $99 a night. But everyone gets free WiFi, plus a full cooked breakfast (croissants and crepes included!) --just the right fuel needed to tackle Quebec City's hilly terrain.
