The Surfcomber Wants You To Name Its Sheep. Yes, Sheep

____ the Sheep, pulling all the weight at the concierge desk again.

We knew something was in the works with those sheep (the cows, too). Each time we'd been by the The Surfcomber in South Beach, the animal statues were in new positions--around the pool, peeking out from behind a door in the lobby, and hanging out by the concierge desk.

Then the sheep and cows popped up on the hotel's Instagram feed during Winter Music Conference. Now, at last, their role in promoting the newly Kimptonized hotel is becoming apparent--they are but furry pawns in a game to drive traffic to the Surfcomber's Facebook page--and, naturally, to the hotel itself.

They're calling it the "Local Rock Star Needs Name” Facebook contest. You see, one lone black sheep in the flock (four cows and four other sheep) remains nameless. (The others all have names but have yet to be introduced. Stay tuned.)

The Surfcomber is turning to its fans to name the fella--yes, it's a boy sheep--and is providing a little background to help get the creative juices flowing...

Beach bum animals.

Music-loving, and with a ‘rock star’ personality, this quadruped knows every DJ on South Beach. He also knows how to have a good time and never has a problem getting in to the city’s latest hot spots because he is always on the list. He is also a social media maven, posting about the hottest places in town and his “rock star life” adventures on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

To enter the contest, you can visit Surfcomber’s or Lantao Kitchen + Cocktails’ Facebook pages, 'Like' them, and then click on the contest tab on the upper right corner of the page. Um, that would be the bit that says “Local Rock Star Needs Name.”

You have until 11:59 p.m. on May 25, 2012, to name the black sheep. The winner will be notified on May 29 and announced publicly on June 1, 2012--and the grand prize is a two-night stay at Surfcomber, dinner for two at the hotel’s restaurant, Lantao Kitchen + Cocktails and a few other perks.

As for our vote? How about Mr. Sheep?
