Soho House Toronto to Open This Fall Followed by Mumbai, Chicago, Istanbul and Barcelona

Earlier this year, we were excited over the discovery of the future Soho House Chicago but it turns out that Soho House Hotels will expand faster and further than we initially thought.

The company announced yesterday (while we were on vacation, naturally) that the Soho House Toronto will open this fall on Bishops Block in recently restored building from the 1880s. BlogTO.com reports that the house will open on Adelaide Street across from the soon-to-open Shangri-La Hotel on Adelaide St. W.

Soho House, which has always operated pop-up spots during the Toronto International Film Festival, plans to install a rooftop bar, a library, a house kitchen and pantry bar and a main lounge area, named the Pretzel Bell Bar Lounge (after the tavern that originally occupied the space, according to BlogTO.) Sadly, it doesn't look like there will be any hotel rooms here. Booo.

But chin up because Soho House Mumbai will open in Spring 2013 with a 38-room hotel on Juhu Tara Road on the beach in Mumbai's Juhu neighborhood. Chicago will follow a year after that in Spring 2014 with 35-bedrooms, a full-sized pool and a glass-enclosed rooftop bar and kitchen.

Soho House Istanbul will then blow the others away as it will be the biggest Soho House of them all, spanning three buildings with 88 bedrooms, club spaces and multiple rooftop pools. This will also open in Spring 2014.

Beyond that, Soho House Barcelona will open in Winter 2014 spread out over six stories of a 19th century apartment block on Plaza Medinaceli with 60 bedrooms, a rooftop pool, club spaces, a public restaurant on the ground floor and a Cowshed spa.

No doubt all this expansion was made possible by billionaire investor Ron Burkle who bought a 60 percent share in the company in January. But the new influx of cash will also go towards refreshing the rooms and CowshedActive area at Babington House in the UK along with creation of fully-serviced apartments at the Soho House Berlin which will be unveiled in July. We're still hoping there's a plan to put hotel rooms at the Soho House in West Hollywood.
