$1 room or not, you can still lounge with coffee or a sexy cocktail in the Library at PUBLIC Chicago

Word is out today that another One Dollar Sale is coming from Ian Schrager’s bright white Chicago gem, PUBLIC Chicago. For those unfamiliar with the online hotel sale, it’s an amazing chance for would-be guests to book a room at PUBLIC for just one buck. For those who swung and missed at the last sale -- you know, the vast majority, including yours truly at HotelChatter – the one dollar offer might feel more like the ultimate tease as rooms ended up selling out in less than five minutes flat.

Still, we’re not about to give up. Real live people picked up all 270 available rooms in the last sale so we know it can be done. And since we really, really want to stay at the PUBLIC for a buck, no less, we’re gonna play it smart this time. Which is why we talked to a PUBLIC Chicago insider for some tips on how to get a leg up at the hotel’s next dollar sale.

Friends of PUBLIC, if there ever was a way, than this is how you score a $1 room at PUBLIC Chicago.

1. Sign Up. First: the basics. The sale date is a secret and the best way to know when it goes live is to submit your email address in advance. PUBLIC will also share the news on its website and social media channels, but an email that comes right to your inbox is the way to go. Sign up now.

2. Follow PUBLIC on Twitter and Facebook, where the hotel plans to share a sneak peak of the sale 24 hours before sharing it with the rest of the world. This may be the golden opportunity.

3. Whether you catch wind of the sale on Twitter, Facebook or email, be ready to act fast. Drop everything, jump online right and try to book a room. The sale details may say you’ll have up to 48 hours to book a room, but we’re betting the sale is done in a matter of minutes.

4. Try again and again and again. As we shared in our last post, the booking system will likely get bogged down. Your request might not complete or go through the first, third or even 10th time, but just keep calm and carry on.

If you actually score a PUBLIC Chicago hotel room for a $1 -- or have in the past -- tell us about it in the comments below. We’d love to know how you made it happen!

$1 Rooms

I scored one... June 29, 2012.

I should note that the total was $1.16 - tax was included.  Will let you know what I think after my stay.

$1 Rooms

Great room, great staff.

What a good deal.  Took at look at the Pump Room, but there was wedding or event going on and we then moved to the Library Bar.

Loved the Crab Bread app and wanted more of the bacon wrapped shrimp (only 2 per serving) and they were small.

Staff there is so friendly and helpful.  If there is another $1 sale I will sit it out to let some others get a chance. But the one after that I am doing!
