Wynn Gets to Work on What Will Be the Most Important Resort in Their History
If you haven't heard it, then let us tell you: Macau is hot. It's so hotfor gambling, shopping, dining and overall indulgingthat the Financial Times reports that it brings in six times the annual revenue of Las Vegas, and hotel occupancy hovers a serious 96-99%.
For this reason, Macau is working to add hotels as fast as possible. Already they've opened an additional 2,200 rooms in the three hotels of the Galaxy Macau complex: Galaxy Hotel, a Banyan Tree and the Hotel Okura. Still, it's not enough.
That's why the big news this week is that Vegas hotelier extraordinaire Steve Wynn will add a third property (following the Wynn Macau and Encore Macau to his Macau bouquet, a resort to open in another four years. The FT mentions that it'll add another 2,000-ish rooms to the Macau scene.
We've already trekked to Macau to visit the current Wynn there twice. Third time's a charm...for this third hotel. Too bad we'll have to wait for years for what Wynn is calling the most important project in the history of Wynn Resorts.
