Way back when in 2010, we got word that a project on Sunset Boulevard would be a crazy hotel complex with two different hotel buildings, each with residential components. We thought this might be that project reincarnated.
But this is actually another project being proposed for 9040 Sunset Boulevard and Doheny instead of being built on the House of Blues site.
Yet while the WeHo Planning Commission has pretty much OK'd the project in its entirety, Edition hasn't really put forth any designs. Patch.com reports that Edition "doesn't seem inclined" to use the designs put forth in 2010 by architect Eric Owen Moss, yet have not submitted any plans of their own. That's soo Edition. Remember how long they waited to show photos of the rooms at the now-defunct Edition Waikiki?
Still, an attorney for Edition told the planning commission that if the City Council approves the modifications later in June (WeHo's approval is just the first step in the process), then Edition will submit their designs for a design review.
Long story short, it looks like we will be hurrying up just to wait for another Edition Hotel to arrive. In the meantime, we'll be waiting for the second Edition Hotel to open sometime in 2013 in either London or Miami. Sigh.
