Is Hotel 38 Really The Refinery NYC?

Another day, another new hotel mystery is unfolding in Manhattan.

We got a tip from a hotel industry insider about a new hotel opening in the Fashion District this fall. The name of the new "luxury boutique hotel"? The Refinery NYC. Yet despite the job posting we saw for a Director of Front Office Operations, the rest of the hotel is still a mystery.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the hotel is being built out of an old hat-factory turned office building at 38th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues. Hmmm...last we heard about a hotel opening on 38th Street, it was being called the generic Hotel 38.

If The Refinery is Hotel 38 and Hotel 38 is The Refinery then we can expect a 3.5-star property with 180 rooms, a fitness center, an open business center and a restaurant and rooftop bar, along with in-room dining.

Alas, there's no website for The Refinery yet and we are still trying to pin down an exact address but we do know it's being run by an independent management company, also named Refinery.

We're still checking out a few more things but if you've got the scoop on what the Refinery will look like, then don't be stingy--let us know!

Will it still look like an old hat factory?

I've heard some rumblings about this place, too. I wonder if they'll try to compete with the cozy, Upper West Side apartment vibe of the NoMad, and try to preserve the old factory interiors, or do something more modern...
