Compared to the original FS Shanghai, the look of the new hotel is slightly more modern and sparse. Instead of giant vases with floral displays and plush oversized armchairs, the FS Pudong has beds lower to the ground, red, black and grey finishes, and floor to ceiling windows. And that's the point, as the hotel was explicitly aiming for that "hip, 21st-century" vibe.
As for the "jewel" aspect, the hotel's ground-floor restaurant Camelia, will also be joined by the super intimate , which offers 22 seats for public dining, as well as five private dining rooms, each inspired by a different semi-precious stone. Oooh...Agate! Amethyst! Rose quartz! Which one will we choose?
Finally, way up on the 41st floor—in addition to the FLARE spa, 24-hour fitness center, brine inhalation room and tepidarium—is the hotel's infinity pool, which will offer views of that other Shanghai gem, the Oriental Pearl Tower.
Rates are set to start at $475/night.
