Don't Worry, There's Still Time To Bid On A Used Towel From InterContinental Sydney

Oh dear. It looks like the InterContinental Sydney is going to have to look into installing some of that linen tracking technology—though, in this particular scenario, it's not guests who are the culprits.

An individual who claims to work for the cleaning company that services the hotel has gotten his hands on a gym towel, used (he claims) by British boyband One Direction singer Zayn Malik. So he's done what any other self-respecting hotel cleaner would do after snagging something a teen idol has wiped his body with: put it up on eBay. And the best part? There's still another 8 days and 14 hours until this "once in a lifetime opportunity" comes to an end.

So far, after fourteen bids, the item (pictured above) is sitting at $14.50 AUD. Coupled with the slightly off-putting image of the crumpled up (and, we're assuming, slightly rancid) towel is this description:

"After his run, Zayn used this towel, which he brought down from his room, to wipe down his body, before leaving it in the change room on his way out. I managed to grab the towel and put it in a plastic bag, as seen in the photo above. This is a genuine, definitive piece of One Direction material. A once in a lifetime opportunity to own something that has been so personally used by a member of One Direction."

We can't help feeling InterCon Sydney is getting the short end of the stick here, since the creepy towel-swiping act itself was done by the individual cleaner and not the hotel. Of course, that's what you get when you let a teen idol into your hotel (Justin Bieber, we're looking at you, buddy). It's never a pretty scene.

Meanwhile, Oprah, who stayed here in 2010, kept things simple with a quick wave from the balcony and that was that. And later in Melbourne, we even discovered she too shares our love of quality hotel bathrooms. Now there's a model celebrity hotel guest!
