We're not quite sure how they are going to cover this up.

The Buckingham Hotel in NYC closed down last year to complete some massive renovations and while the job is still ongoing, the hotel has decided to makeover its name too.

The hotel will now be known as the Quin Hotel. That's right, the Quin with one "n." And yes, it does sound kind of like a nickname for the Algonquin. We're still trying to track down the origin of the name, maybe it has something to do with the hotel's jazzy past.

A reader tipped us off to the news in DNAinfo.com which has some scoop on the drama behind the scenes

. Apparently, Highgate Hotels has been installed as the new management company for the hotel but the renovations are making the long-term tenants (about a dozen) miserable.

Those residents have complained about a nightmare full-building renovation that's caused noise, flooding, broken pipes, hanging wires, and respiratory problems they blame on toxic dust. The city's Department of Buildings lifted a partial stop-work order on the building in December, but the hotel's seven remaining elderly residents said their situation has not improved.

Yikes. Most of these hotel renovations that are done with tenants inside never end well. (Hello, Hotel Chelsea) But we hope all ends well with The Quin, with one "n".
