Last week, it was announced that Pod Hotel number two (which is actually called Pod 39) is on its way to NYC in June, just as predicted.

And one of the things we're most excited about this second-edition, updated Pod is that this time, all the rooms will have private bathrooms. Queen pods, odd pods, single pods—and yes, even bunk pods (shown above).

Which is only fair. With all the socializing embodied in the Pod culture (let's not forget the rooftop space, taco bar in the lobby, and video/photo "screening wall"), it's only right that guests, whether they're backpacking from Europe or in town on a conference, should be entitled to a little privacy in the bathroom. Added features like this (and starting rates of $119/night) will soon be giving Yotel a run for its money.

Many features from the first Pod have carried over like the brick tiles in the bathroom and the spare metal finishings on the beds. Like we learned in our first stay at the Pod, the beds aren't anything special. But you're not going to the Pod to slumber in a Westin Heavenly or anything like that. You're going because it's cute, fun, efficient, and super cheap!

For the money you're saving on a hotel room, you could even get yourself a spa treatment, do your pampering elsewhere, and then settle in for some tacos on the roof back at the Pod.

We also love the little closet nook next to the bathroom for hanging up clothes. We stayed in a hotel recently with no closet space at all (no names!), and let us tell you, it was no fun. That's the Pod for you, saving money and space in one fell, slightly futuristic, swoop.
