Swiss˘tels are elusive properties. It's hard to believe that though the chain has a slew of hotels around Europe, they have only one in the US (the Swiss˘tel Chicago) and, now, only one resort in Asia: the newly debuted Swiss˘tel Resort Phuket, Thailand.

Although it's not a new build—it used to be the Courtyard by Marriott at Kamala Beach—this Swiss˘tel is sticking to the business formula, positioning itself as a resort for businesspeople who need a getaway. Of course it helps that the resort is only 30 minutes south of Phuket International Airport and has a conference center for 150.

In typical tropical resort fashion, it boasts a lagoon-style pool and an "adventure club" for keeping the kids busy while you either suntan or take a meeting (hopefully poolside). It's in the Kamala Bay area, so watersports are available. Just keep in mind that the resort is all suites—180 of them—each with a separate living area and balcony.

The official transition happens on April 1 so until next week we won't know opening nightly rates. Stay tuned here until Phuket pops up in the mix.

Swissotels have been

Swissotels have been known to provide luxurious suites and deluxe conference amenities mostly for people who are away for business purposes. This resort concept by Swissotels is indeed something new and definitely a project to look forward to. It is a very smart business strategy to choose Phuket as their venture location for their first ever resorts in Asia as Phuket has always been a popular hit with tourists who wish to have a relaxing getaway amidst natural flora and fauna. Even if this project does not work out (which is highly doubted) their property for sale will definitely be easily sellable because of their reputation.
