Way before we got the skinny (heh) on InterContinental Hotel Group's new health-conscious hotel brand, Even Hotels, we had learned that IHG was planning an exclusive hotel brand in China.

Now today, we have all the details on that brand called Hualuxe Hotels and Resorts.

Hualuxe is a mash-up from the word Hua which means "majestic China" and luxe, which obvs means luxury. And it shows in these pics. The guestrooms look, dare we say, gorgeous? But Hualuxe will be more than just a pretty bedroom. The four tenets of the Hualuxe brand were created based on the priorities that Chinese travelers (of which there is expected to be 3.3 billion of in China by 2015) want from their hotels:

· Tradition: These include a refined welcome experience, a deep-rooted tea culture and signature food and beverage offerings from the brand's Fu Lin restaurant to a late-night noodle bar. (Yum!)
· Rejuvenation: Heavy emphasis on nature here with a green arrival, a lobby garden and resort-inspired bathrooms, all designed to help guests step away from the busy pressures of their lives.
· Status: Each guest will be treated with recognition and respect, fundamental principles of Chinese society but Hualuxe will also offer "seamless" VIP arrival, club lounges and specialty F&B hosts placed throughout the hotel.
· Familiar Spaces: Lastly, the Hualuxe brand will offer guests a range of public and private spaces like multi-function suites, rejuvenation centers and tea houses in each Hualuxe hotel.

As planned Hualuxe will open in China first in top cities and resort locations throughout the time. The first hotel is actually planned to open in late 2013/early 2014 and there are 20 letters of intent already signed. But IHG says that "in time" (i.e. if it's a hit), the brand will open in major cities elsewhere in the world so that Chinese travelers can have the Hualuxe experience when traveling abroad.

And also so that curious hotel geeks like ourselves could peek into a Hualuxe without having to go to China? We'll be keeping our fingers tightly crossed for Hualuxe New York and San Francisco!
