Hilton Fashion District Still Has One Of Our Favorite Views Of Manhattan
Spring is so near we can almost smell it, and with the thaw (or lack thereof) comes the excitement of hitting a whole bunch of hotel rooftops for the first of the season. But since it's not quite shorts-and-a-tshirt weather in Manhattan, we recently headed to the glass-covered rooftop bar at Hilton Fashion 26, where the views are as awesome as the temperature is mild.
Rare View, which is accessed via an express elevator in the lobby, is a totally relaxed scene. Which is pretty much the opposite of any rooftop bar in Manhattan with a remotely interesting view—sadly, we've just become used to either waiting in line or dealing with hoards of other people trying to 'soak up' the same view from the same tiny, overcrowded rooftop space.
Here, not only did we love the killer Empire State Building views, we had—gasp—leg room!
We took the above shot last week from our table at the 24th-floor bar, where we were finishing up a day of shopping in Chelsea with some hard-earned beers and sunset-gazing.
Obviously, we took this shot after the sun had gone down, but that didn't make the Empire State Building any less impressive. In fact, with the sky a bright mix of purple and blue, and the lights just starting to twinkle, we stared for a good long while before the cocktail waitress came over and knocked us out of our stupor.
We'll leave you with one last tip: come here during the week for rooftop happy hour, from 5-7pm, when all drinks are two-for-one. You'll need to keep drinking anyway to hold onto your table, so might as well get more bang for your buck!
