Everything Takes a Bit Longer in Miami, Including the Opening of Element

If there's one thing that Miami and hotel openings have in common it's that they both make you wait longer than you'd like. Especially when you need to get permits from City officials to open your doors.

Which is all to say: we're not surprised that Element Miami is still a few weeks away and not already open as we thought it might be by now.

The hotel's website is saying Opening February 16--but taking reservations from March 1. A rep for Element tells us it's safe to say it will be open in 'late February.' And the earliest night we could find a room is March 11, for $159 a night.

Putting on our rose-colored glasses for a second, we do think this hotel will be worth the wait. It's been built green from the ground up, so you know you're getting that brand-new, fresh feeling when you check in. It's located near Miami International Airport, of course, but also right near what will be Miami Central Station, a new transportation hub linking the airport with the city's rail service to Downtown Miami.

Element Miami will serve a free, healthy breakfast and let guests buy more goodies at a gourmet food pantry. Rooms have kitchens with filtered water, the hotel has a ChargePoint electric vehicle charging station, the bathrooms have rain showers and outside there's a fire pit, barbecue and a heated outdoor pool.

It's no South Beach but taking a dip after a flight delay or in between legs of a journey? We like the sound of that.
