Pounce On These Leap Year Hotel Deals Now, Before They Leap Away

Yes, it's a Leap Year! An entire day added to the month, an entire extra day for some hotel-lovin'. And the hotels are pretty excited about it too! We've hunted around for the best Leap Year deals from San Antonio to New York to London. Unsurprisingly, several of them overlap with Valentine's Day festivities—but as they say, bargains make the heart grow fonder...

Grand Hyatt New York, fresh from its recent $130 million renovation, is feeling generous. So they're singling out people who are either turning 29 this year or who were born on a leap year. While the 29-year-olds actually make out with something cool (free appetizer or dessert at New York Central, pictured above), leap year babies (anyone born in 2008, 2004, 2000, 1996, etc), as usual, get the short end of the stick. That would be a "free" Dylan's Candy Bar cupcake...-shaped tin (not even an actual cupcake!) from the hotel's 24-hour convenience store, Market.

With a purchase of $9 or more. Seriously. These guys only celebrate their birthday once every four years. Can't we just give them a free cupcake and call it a day? Rates from $309.

Over in London, the May Fair thinks Leap Year is as good of an excuse as any to put a ring on it. So the hotel's in-house Cupid Concierge, Darren Marlow, is trying to help couples "lacking in inspiration." How? Well, one idea includes having a diver present the marriage proposal from a tank inside the London Aquarium. Inspired, indeed! The service costs £200, but we're sure Marlow is full of other, less pricey, schemes as well.

Rates from £235.

Over the summer, The Charles Hotel in Boston debuted a new 4,000 sq ft spa called Corbu, where certain products are produced right there in the hotel. Book yourself for an "Herbal Poultice Journey" (basically a massage with herbs), and get 29% off your room when you book during the hotel's Leap Year flash sale. Log on betwen 2:29pm and 3:29pm on February 29 to cash in. Your tense shoulders will thank you!

Rates from $339.

Inner five-year-olds, take not! Disneyland in Florida is opening its doors for 24 hours from 6am February 29 to 6am March 1. And if you need a place to come back to after all that Goofy hi-fiving, Hotel Anabella is offering a Leap Year promo with $29 rooms. The offer extends to the first 29 rooms booked for February 29, and the on-sale date is today at 10am.

Built in time for the 1968 World's Fair, the Hilton Palacio Del Rio in San Antonio is currently finishing up a big ol' renovation of its 482 guest rooms. Hacienda-style decor, hand-carved headboards and local art have all been brought in to freshen up the place, and rates are staying pretty low. Book a night here under the Leap Year Promotion and get 29% off your next stay before December 30, 2012.

Rates from $151.

Grand Lucayan

Just saw that the Grand Lucayan is offering a Leap Year Deal too. If your birthday is February 29, you will get a special $29 per room/per night rate (based on double occupancy). Travel must be booked by February 28. A two-night minimum stay is required. And they are only giving out the deal to 29 people.
