We like to keep it fun but informative here at HotelChatter so our newest series, What is This? is devoted to odd-looking items in hotel rooms that upon first glance look as if they serve only a decorative purpose. But everything happens for a reason, right? And we're here to tell you what these things really do.

Ok, this photo might be a little tooclose for you to make out exactly what it is but when you walk into one of the guestrooms at the Saguaro Hotel in Scottsdale, you will know immediately what you are looking at--a stylish air conditioner cover.

Now that might seem like a trivial design element to point out but it's yet another example of how the Saguaro has done a great job designing around an older property that started out life as a DoubleTree hotel and which has been through several boutique hotel incarnations since.

Also, we loved that A/C unit was especially easy to control. All we had to do was push the "Off" button when we got cold. Stylish and easy!
