5 Movies That Recently Filmed Inside Hotels

There's nothing really new about movie crews making use of hotels (either in which to film, or to sleep�though rarely both). But lately, it seems like location scouts are getting more and more creative with their picks. Here's a look at five recent movies that have all shot in hotels.

When director Steve McQueen went looking for a hotel to host his movie about a manic sex addict (played by Michael Fassbender), the Standard must have seemed like a pretty obvious choice. In addition to a painfully tense sex scene shot in one of the hotel's Hudson-facing rooms, the Shame crew also made use of the former Boom Boom Room to film Carey Mulligan dressed up like a lounge lizard singing "New York, New York."

2. Hampton Inn Nanuet

We loved this cameo by a Hampton Inn in Young Adult. Mavis Gary (played by Charlize Theron) checks into this Rockland County, NY hotel with her dog Dolce, whom she tries to conceal in her handbag�even after the Front Desk clerk tells her small pets are allowed (which they are at Hampton). The hotel was so psyched, they even posted the movie trailer on their Facebook wall!

3. Le Meurice

In Midnight In Paris, director Woody Allen makes use of a penthouse suite at Le Meurice, which is also a favorite of celebs like Eminem, Angelina Jolie, and Jay-Z & Beyonce (who knows? maybe Blue Ivy Carter owes more to the hotel's Belle Etoile Royal Suite than she thinks...).

4. St. Regis Princeville

Indeed, many viewers wondered the same thing after seeing George Clooney traipse along that perfect stretch of unspoiled beach in The Descendants: where the hell is that? Well, the film crew picked a little spot on the southeastern coast of Kauai known as Kipu Ranch (apparently ideal for ATV jaunts); and while that particular spot doesn't have any hotels, we leaned that the entire crew got to stay at the nearby St. Regis Princeville Resort, only a one hour drive from Kipu.

5. Hotel de Paris

The team who worked on Iron Man 2 (starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert Downey Jr., and Mickey Rourke) got to visit this Monte Carlo beauty when filming scenes that took place during the Formula 1 race. Facing the city's Plaza del Casino (above), the hotel offers mind-bogglingly ~~beautiful~~ expensive suites (they even hosted guests during Prince Albert's wedding) and a Michelin restaurant called Le Grill.

There were many scenes including the lobby and rooms in Midnight in Paris which were filmed at Le Bristol. I think the notation about Le Meurice is a mistake.

Hey Donnasevilla, you are correct! The film actually shot in both Le Meurice AND Le Bristol, though I'm not enough of a movie buff to go into which scenes took place where. Sorry for the confusion!

I remember a scene where Owen Wilson, fiancee and her parents (or another couple) come out of a hotel and they are standing on the Le Meurice tiled walkway just outside the hotel on Rue de Rivoli.
