We don't necessarily recommend staying in bed for a week - Montreal is too great a city - but if you're not getting sweaty, you're in the wrong room. Why? Because that means you didn't book the Queen Elizabeth's Suite 1742, and you can.
That's right, you can stay in the exact room John and Yoko occupied, but you need to contact the hotel directly to inquire about rates and availability (starting at about $800 a night). The hotel often has packages surrounding the suite. The current being the Bed-In for Peace Package which includes one night's accommodation, a Lennon CD with the song Give Peace a Chance, a copy of the lyrics, and, naturally, breakfast in bed.
While many hotels in Montreal are situated above the 20-mile underground city and the Metro, the Queen E is located on top of the VIA Rail and Amtrak stations, so you'll merely have to walk up the steps if you're taking the train into town from NYC or another part of Canada. It's a nice alternative to airplane travel and a great beginning to your 60's throwback vaca.
