Not only can Intercontinental Hotels now tick a box for being the brand's first resort-style property in Australia, but it's the first for them in Queensland as well.

Formerly a Hyatt Regency, the rebranded InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort is tucked away in the yacht marinas of Hope Island on the Gold Coast. Along with close proximity of the famous beaches of Surfers Paradise or the tranquil hinterland, the 5-star resort features lagoon, garden and golf course views for its guests.

Housed in a vintage-styled 1940s Queenslander home, you will feel as though you have stepped back in time and into a plantation style mansion. You can take your pick of any one of the 243 rooms styled in colonial decor and featuring polished hardwood floors. If you prefer a private balcony, the homestead rooms are the ones to nab as they offer views of the marina or golf course.

Since the hotel is far enough away from the heart (and to-do's) of the Gold Coast, rest and relaxation had better be on your agenda after check-in. With plenty of tee time options, this place is a golfers dream.

For those of you that prefer to work on your fitness or bliss out at the spa, the extensive workout center offers private yoga classes and a full treatment facility to forget all your worries, mate.

Room rates start at 299 AUD ($310) per night.

Look at that

Look at that façade of the hotel! It's gorgeous! And the description of the décor makes even me as a born and raised Queenslander eager to see what the fuss is about! I really wonder what kind of items they pulled from storage to fill the rooms with !
