The intimate vibe is a big factor. “It’s such a private place,” Cheban says. “It’s not a big, loud place where people are going to go up to celebrities and ask to take a picture with them.”
Kim Kardashian, Scott Disick (pictured above with Cheban) and Lance Bass are only a few of the bold-faced names who've dined at Sushi MiKasa since its recent opening, and the omakase-centered menu is sure to draw more especially since the fresh fish is flown in daily via New York City.
Signature creations include tuna pizza, a crispy wafer topped with fresh tuna slices and truffle sauce, as well as fluke with poached quail egg topped with truffle oil.
Cheban says he was blown away when he dined at the original Sushi MiKasa in Brooklyn, and felt Miami needed something similar.
“We’re not doing California rolls, Philadelphia rolls, garbage like that,” he says. “We are doing super high-quality ingredients and dishes that are all like works of art.”
