The Moment Is Coming To LA This February

There is certainly movement afoot in the LA hotel world. After news earlier this month that a Korean-American-themed hotel would be opening in K-town next summer, now we're hearing about another place over on Sunset Boulevard, in what the hotel refers to as "Guitar Row."

The name of the hotel? The Moment. No, we're not trying to make a statement about the hotel's modernity or its 'now-ness'—that's actually its name.

The LA Times reports that The Moment is just about ready for its big moment (ha)—an early February opening is expected, though right now the place is still fenced in by construction. And though The Moment not a large hotel by any means, the few details (and photos) that have been released have piqued our curiosity...

The Moment is housed in a renovated 1950s motel known as the Sunset Inn & Suites, whose compact, angular facade has clearly been preserved (judging from the rendering above), though the interiors will likely be more 'of the moment.' The website reveals there will be 39 rooms, featuring open showers, low platform beds, and bright orange and green accents. Furthermore, a 2,000 sq ft rooftop deck will house the bar.

Rates will start at $199/night.

Meanwhile, the LA Times has high hopes for this place becoming the next "it" spot:

"What's the chance of this having a high hip factor? I'm thinking good, given that its operated by Broughton Hotels, the company based in Newport Beach that owns 14 properties in California, including the Spanish Garden Inn in Santa Barbara, the historic Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica and the Morgan near Hearst Castle at San Simeon, Calif."
