The Kerry brand is actually part of Shangri-La Hotels, which launched it first with the Kerry Hotel, Pudong, Shanghai in February 2011 before converting the Kerry Centre Hotel Beijing into the brand’s second property last November. These two are the only Kerry Hotels for the time being.
The Beijing property sits just within the city’s third ring road across the street from the city’s tallest building, the China World Trade Center Tower, and has 486 rooms and suites.
The marble bathrooms have digital clocks set into the mirrors, glassed-in Asian-style toilette suites with both an open-air shower and deep soaking tub and L’Occitaine products.
Staying in a Club room or suite entitles guests to a few special treats: access the 18th floor Club Lounge; all-day dining and snacks; Nespresso coffee makers in the rooms; complimentary minibar upon arrival; butler services; and a complimentary suit pressing. Suites even come with all-in-one printers in the desks. Rates in December start at 1,300 RMB ($210).
Full disclosure: Eric Rosen traveled to China and stayed at the Kerry Beijing as a guest of Shangri-La Hotels, but all opinions expressed are entirely his own.
