Looking down at the rooftop from inside the grand Lobby restaurant, the entire scene feels like a stroke of festive genius. Not only because the well-enclosed rooftop might actually make a fab rink (no fear of gliding over the edge), but also because the stunning Lobby is even more spectacular during Christmas.
Inside, a massive Christmas tree stands in the middle of the room, huge wreaths hang in tiers along floor-to-ceiling windows, and there's even a live string quartet playing from up high in a balcony.
It's a beautiful sight, warm and aglow with holiday spirit, and way better than anything you might see at Chicago’s touristy Walnut Room. So, of course, why not put a rooftop ice rink outside just in time for the season, too?
We’ll be back with an update once the rink is on and in full effect. In the meantime, we found rates at The Peninsula Chicago starting at $395/night. Not bad when you consider all the added Holiday umpf.
